Hi all, here’s our latest progress update!
0.6 is in its final stages of development and will, finally, be rolled out this month. Likely within the next week or two, or three. Depends on how well internal testing goes.
On the WLM front, WLM 2011/2012 now has it’s contacts management features (except find friiends in common and profile services fully implemented. The user status service (which funnily enough uses Atom) has also been implemented for PSMs. The other social features aren’t implemented yet.
This may not come in the initial release, but I’ve started work on P2P interop with older versions and client capabilitiies interop; neither are fully working yet.
So you know the last update where I mentioned Yahoo! Messenger 9.0 support was going to be delayed until the next update?
I lied :P.
Not only is it coming, but multiple new features for Yahoo! Messenger as well, includng: photo sharing, a relay for file transfers, and avatars. Many bugs have been fixed too.
The initial reason for the delay was because of an issue I was having where it’d log out 60 secs after being logged in. Turns out my ping packet was using the wrong status :S
AIM’s server code is now ready for initial release. Basic functionality is implemented, including FEEDBAG (accurately this time :P), PD, instant messages, and soon after release, the user directory. Chatrooms will also come in a future update.
The TOC and TOC 2.0 protocols have also been implemented so any clients that utilize those can now connect to CrossTalk. WebAPI will come in a future update.
Much of the website is also being redesigned to be easier and smoother to use. A few new features coming to that is:
- The ability to change your avatar straight from your account settings (only affects the member directory, WLM roaming display picture, and Yahoo! Messenger avatar right now)
- The member directory will now recommend users for you to add based on a mix of shared interests and recent activity, scoring users based on the number of similar interests and how recently they’ve logged in, more shared interests and logging in at a recent time giving a higher score. Users with the highest score show up first
- Code cleanup
Here’s some demos, including a sneak peak of uFind:
