Patched installers for '09 will be coming out with the corresponding server update, so I believe this won’t even be needed when the time comes.

heres a reason, how do i install programs without it wanting to install wlm 2009 as a update? EDIT: i decided on windows live mail 2011 and simply uninstalled messenger before installing and then reinstalling it

Nope, there’s no 2012 version. But 2009 is supported.
