Why it isn't possible to transfer files via MSN (Escargot)?

I tried with a friend to send him an image (or any file at all) but it just says Connecting…
Is it normal ?

I saw a way by using Hamachi but because my friend and I are using Windows 98 SE XDDD
And the oldest version of Hamachi only works with XP or 2000

or if your ISP allows forwarding you can make it public that way

i dont do this because it probably has 9284909278504 security holes

Hmm. File transfer works for me. it only works on 4.6 or later though.
