i actually like boring flat design, like the ones from old youtube and old twitter
I liked the iPhone OS 1 - iOS 6 skeumorphoric UI, thanks Scott Forstall for it. Gotta blame Jony Ive for going with minimalist design starting with iOS 7.
I think really the only one to blame are cellphones… Why? Responsive design, it’s not as aesthetic to look at overdesigned stuff on various sizes, or icon sized on a cellphone, because it will look compressed or not as “commercially remarkable”. Websites and designs are not anymore just looked at on a big screen, actually cellphone users are the majority by now, so the minimalism was a necessity to make everything consistent and not just making a separate version completely different on cellphone with different designs, also affecting general design appeal
