The Skype Archive

Hello, I’m winreset. I usually don’t post here, but I think this is something useful.

Anyways, I’ve started to build a comprehensive archive of every Skype version on the internet with some help from other people over at Index of /Skype/Clients .

Recently there’s been some activity in the Skype reverse engineering/custom server scene and with there already being some “deobfuscators” of sorts for Skype for Windows versions, such as the one found in the Skyaeris Archive, by having all these old versions in one spot, it’s way easier for reverse engineers, custom server developers or future users of some revival for Skype to use/test/play around with these.

As of me writing this post, the archive is 61,5GB, has 1.709 files, 121 folders and contains versions of Skype for Android, iOS, J2ME, Linux, Mac, Pocket PC, Symbian, U3, Windows and Windows Phone.

How do you login to a microsoft account in the Skyaries archive? I always wanted to log in to my Skype account in old Skype versions from 2003-2018..

You unfortunately can’t, as the old Skype servers were shut down almost 7 years ago. However, you can download your Skype data, put it into Skyperious (a Skype DB manager tool) and you can create a new main.db file with all your messages and info and whatnot. You can use this new main.db to create an offline session using the Skyaeris Helper in the Skyaeris Archive and read all your old messages and see your old contact list inside of Skype 3.x and above. Skype 1.x and 2.x don’t work from what I’ve heard.

Alternatively, you can also use a version of Skype 8 from the Skyaeris Archive which still allows Microsoft account login and you can see your old contact list from there. However, you can’t do anything like send messages, start calls etc.
