The Crosstalk IRC

Can someone please explain further how to log on to the Crosstalk IRC channel? I’m using HexChat for reference.

On the website it says Hostname is irc.classicconnect.net. But what should I choose as Network in HexChat? And where do I go from there? irc dot classicconnect . net is not listed under Networks, nor does it work to “add” it. Going into Freenode for example, I cannot find classicconnect nor crosstalk in channels either, so I’m a bit confused.

I’ve not used IRC in like 20+ years, and I used mIRC back then and even then I used it very sparingly, so I dont remember how everything works.

  1. If you need to, change your global user information from the defaults.
  2. Add a new network, call it whatever, ClassicConnect works.
  3. Add irc.classicconnect.net/6697 as a server.
  4. Check “Use SSL for all the servers on the network”.
  5. If you would like, review and check the other options in the network configuration dialog to your liking.
  6. If you are happy with the settings, click close, and connect to the new network.
  7. You may get a dialog saying if you want to join a channel. In this case you would want to join #crosstalk. If you don’t get this dialog, type /join #crosstalk while in the network root.

Ohhh, I will try this, thank you!

edit: I just kept getting “connection reset by peer” everytime I chose to try and connect to it :\
