i just installed icq 7.8 and im using nina. i tried patching by changing the appconfig.xml but whenever i try logging in, it changes it back to what it was api.login.icq.net and then i keep repeating by changing it back to api.login.nina and the api.nina blah blah but then it goes back for no reason. can anybody help?

You need to edit your hosts file (if on Windows: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) and add an entry:
0,0.0.0 update.icq.com
didn’t work.
Then you’ve done something wrong, if you follow the instructions it works, plenty of people are on ICQ 7 right now just fine. I’d reinstall it and try again.
should i just try 7.0 instead of 7.8?
Yes, at the very least 6.0 should work. Eventually we’ll have a patch tool which will do all the changes for you
