Now Watching Messenger — bring your WLM “Now Playing” status back to life!
Hi everyone! I’m Lucas Issa, and I developed Now Watching Messenger, a free app for those still using Windows Live Messenger.
It automatically shows what you’re watching on YouTube or listening to on Spotify in your Messenger status, just like the classic “What I’m listening to” feature, now working on Windows 10 and 11.
YouTube video titles (with optional channel name)
Spotify app tracks as “Artist - Song”
Works with Edge, Chrome and Firefox, even in background tabs
Enable YouTube and Spotify separately
English, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian
Lightweight, no installation, lives in the system tray

Virus-free. Some antivirus programs may flag it as a false positive because the app is not digitally signed. The full source code is available on GitHub for anyone to review.

Download NowWatchingMessenger.exe, open it and you’re done. Just listen to whatever you want!
