(OLD) BETA: Mercury Messenger for android with only MSNP11 support

I did a tutorial on how to download and use Mercury Messenger with Escargot. It’s at Brazilian Portuguese, if you want to see, you are there: http://youtu.be/VoJbLHvKOA8

What is the matter?

Well, the problem is that we are not experts in android, and especially with java, where we would have to change to fix the problem.
We went beyond our ability to do this, and for hours and hours they were studying and trying to do it. Mercury Messenger is already a very old application and may have problems with versions larger than android 4.3.

Ho realy good job to the developpers and researchers ! I unfornunatly only have ios devices so :frowning: I realy hope that an ios application will also be released :frowning: But it is possible even on ios devices ! Some devellopers are already able to create apps that can be downloaded from the iphone and works… Like Tutuapps, or Vshare SE were we need to install a logiciel on pc to syncronise the developper app on the phone…

I think I will buy myself a cheap Android device

I wanted to know why YouTube took, I did not use any music with copyrights, I had no explicit content …

YouTube lately is being a big problem with these claims.

YouTube said it was for “inappropriate content.” There is nothing in the video, only if the YouTube algorithm had a false positive in the images of the contacts of my MSN (my profile photo, the character Tails running, a flower and a rocket).

maybe you can upload it on vimeo and post the link here. (just a thought)

Doesn’t the app let you save some debug log when the java error occurs?

I know there is an option in the menu on the login screen to save logs to sd card…

Try to get some log and send them to us.

I can’t guarantee you we can do anything about it but we never know…

Mateus was using logcat if you know what is it and how to make it working.

Better do that. There is no iOS geeks out there so we don’t even know how to install the ipa file on an iPhone… so talking about modifying it is totaly futuristic  Anyway, the iPhone will probably have to be rooted…

Ok guys, thanks for reporting this NetworkOnMainThreadException error. It seems to come from some coding practice that is not allowed anymore on recent version of Android. What we need now is a way to find exactly from where it comes so we can hopefully fix it.

If someone has a rooted phone, please install:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rs.pedjaapps.alogcatroot.app

Once you’ve installed the app, simply open it up and tap “Grant” on the superuser access request. From here, make sure the logcat-capturing service is running by tapping the play/pause button at the top of the screen. Then, once you’ve reproduced the bug that you’d like to report, tap the three-dot menu button and choose “Save” to generate a copy of your logcat.

The logcat will be saved as a text file in the aLogcat folder on your SD card or internal storage, so when you’re ready to submit your bug report, simply share this file with us.

Ooh right :disappointed: I’ve decompiled a messenger app in the past to try to modify it too and I know how much of a pain it is, I didn’t know Mercury back in the day so I thought you had both built the app from the ground up at first. That changes things. Hope these things will work correctly when such protocol gets supported by Escargot then! Good work regardless.

Do you think Mercury Messenger’s GUI could be overhauled at some point or would it still be hard all the same because of obfuscated code?
