MSN Messenger 7.5 cannot be opened or installed on windows xp

Problem description: windows xp failing to connect to it’s own network resources. instead of connecting to the resource, it is asking me to provide / find the file of the resource.

Error code/error message: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click ok to try again, or enter an alternative path to a folder containing the installation package in the box below.

What has been tried so far: all I did was try to sign in at that point but after trying to connect I closed it and rebooted windows xp.
I tried to reinstall it because i couldn’t open it after rebooting windows xp.

Messenger version: MSN Messenger 7.5

Windows version: Windows XP (Service Pack 3)

Screenshot of the error:

Given your prior issues on that install, I would suggest you use ZapMessenger, then make a new shortcut (the old ones will break) to C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe and then you should be good to go from now on.
