Windows isn’t free:
Activation for Windows
Activation for Office
Bing Search Engine (only Windows 10 S and 11 SE)
And other issues.
Linux Mint is free:
You dont really have to activate office and the OS itself
You can set any default search engine you want (just like both in Windows and Linux Mint)
You can run windows apps using wine or vituralbox.
Linux Mint is worth it. Stupid companies are just gonna put windows on laptops forever until you pop in a USB stick that has Linux Mint and just install.
I would push back on the idea that something is better because it’s free. I agree that sometimes it’s true, but usually not. Your average Linux distro is a combination of incredibly talented volunteers and vendors who tend to take more than they give back.
Also, Windows and Office can be obtained legally pretty cheaply, especially in comparison to other commercial software (Adobe for example).
i moved from windows 11 to linux mint then to debian 12 for pro use but i thinked that the UI was boring for debian 12 so i decided to move to ubuntu and xubuntu. now my laptop has xubuntu and ubuntu. i can pick one of those options.
