The Verge released an article explaining it better than I ever could, Microsoft is redesigning Skype once again and killing its Snapchat-like feature - The Verge .
In my opinion this only goes to show the pathetic lengths Microsoft has to go to to keep up with the innovation from platforms such as WhatsApp, Line, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, WeChat and Discord. I take this early opportunity to give one huge f for the legacy of Skype.

i dont find the redesing THAT BAD , and since skype 8 inst a laggy mess anymore , i would say that it is finally usable
Personally I think Skype 4.0 was probably the best Skype version, and I didn’t even like Skype itself that much.
Skype 8 is trash due to using “Electron”.
