Is there better alternatives to windowblinds?

sorry I don’t know what category would have fit best :stuck_out_tongue:

so when I was trying to theme my windows 10 desktop I installed windowblinds 10. However I soon uninstalled it because it made everything run super slow, and most of the time it wouldn’t even work.
It broke loads of apps and I had to reinstall some.
I don’t really need to theme my apps anyway, just the task bar and start button would be fine.
I’ve heard people talk about AeroGlass. Is this for windowblinds? Anyways, if you know any other good apps that run well please let me know.

Apps like StartIsBack, Open-Shell and Retrobar can do this.

StartisBack gives you a realistic and configurable Windows 7 and 8 Taskbar, along with the windows 7 start menu, and a more modernised start menu to fit the windows 8 theme. You can apply custom start “orbs” too.

Open-Shell does the same as StartIsBack, but it’s much more configurable, free and open source. You can apply custom start “orbs” too.

Retrobar only themes the taskbar, and the start button. It doesn’t however give a custom start menu, so it’s only a taskbar replacement. Try using it with Open-Shell’s Start menu.
Retrobar has themes like
Windows XP (And it’s theme variants, even Zune)
Windows 9X
Windows 2000
Windows Vista
Windows Longhorn
Windows Whistler (I think)

Assuming by “AeroGlass” you mean the Aero Glass For Windows 8+ thing. That only gives program windows an aero look. It doesn’t touch the taskbar. It can be used with custom themes. It also doesn’t work in the newest Windows 10/11 versions. The latest it runs on is (i think) 1903.

I think retrobar is what I’m looking for. I’ll check it out. Thanks very much!!
