Is it good? I could get a pc with 1060
I think it’s good. The specific variant might change things a bit (i.e. amount of memory).
I use a Radeon RX 470 (8GB version), which is a direct competitor to the GTX 1060 (released same year, mid-range card), and it still works really well with most* modern games. I also believe the 1060 wins in benchmarks against the 470, although the 470 specs are technically higher. So, they should be about equal.
* The only thing I’ve recently found that struggles is the newest Microsoft flight sim, the new Sonic CrossWorlds was fine though.
It’s entirely depending on what you do with the machine, and what games you play. I myself daily drive a GTX 970 and it’s perfect for the stuff i do. I do things like gaming, artwork, android device modification and Virtualisation. I play games such as Half-Life, Garry’s Mod, and Minecraft (with decent shaders etc. Probably the most intensive game I play is Slime Rancher 2, and it runs decently on that. Of course how your GPU performs also depends on what other hardware the machine has such as CPU and RAM. My main machine has a 4th Gen Core i5 and it plays nicely with my 970. I’d suggest doing some research and decide based upon what your motherboard supports.
I also suggest you measure up your case/enclosure and find the card’s dimensions before just buying one. Make sure your motherboard has the correct PCI-E slot. Also try to find one that hasn’t been used for AI or cryptomining. A heavily used one can impact performance and reliability. Depending on the age, I suggest that you apply new thermal paste to the GPU to further help with temps. I did with my 970.
No shit genius, its a GeForce, and better, it is GTX which idk what it means but ig it means that its good
I agree that Nvidia is likely the superior option in most (all?) categories these days, but that’s mainly because they claimed/advertised themselves to be, gained a dominant position, and then software was optimized around that.
For my personal PC I’ve always used AMD/ATi/Matrox GPUs and have rarely thought I was being disadvantaged, certainly not in a long time.
wasnt ati better than nvidia at one point in time?

LOL!
PROBABLY GETTING A GTX 1650 HAHAHAHH
Branding has no bearinig on the quality of the graphics card. In-fact I’d argue these days NVIDIA is the worst of the 3 options for all but AI tasks. Even AMD is starting to beat them in RT thanks to recent developments.
That said, it entirely depends on what you do with the machine. If you only play e-sports/older games, a 1060 should suffice.
How much are you spending?
I’m using a GTX 1060 myself. Heavy games like Cricket 26 didn’t run, but when I tried Magic Brawl (which is a lighter game), it worked perfectly fine without any issues.
