I’ve been working on an open source AIM server for the past 9 months in my spare time. I feel like it’s in good enough shape for people to start messing around with it. Right now it supports Windows client versions 5.0-5.9, and I plan to implement support for older versions in the near term.
Would love for y’all to try it out and share feedback/bug reports! 
Also, any and all contributions (code, documentation, etc) are welcome.
