I use Windows Live Movie Maker from Windows Live Essentials often, but since I had to uninstall it for Crosstalk’s WLM, I’m unsure whether or not I can continue to use it long-term or reinstall it without running into any problems. Is there any way I can continue to use Movie Maker? Any tips are appreciated.

you should be able to reinstall Windows Live Movie Maker from WLE 2009 after installing CrossTalk, but it’ll overwrite their patched Communications Platform. if you follow these steps it should work:
- install Windows Live Essentials 2009 - pick what you want, i assume just Movie Maker. it’ll say messenger is already installed but don’t worry about that
- after it’s done installing, run
msiexec /x {ED00D08A-3C5F-488D-93A0-A04F21F23956}- this uninstalls the old Communications Platform - reinstall the crosstalk Communications Platform via the patched Contacts.msi that came with your download

It did not work for me unfortunately, after reinstalling Movie Maker from WLE, I did everything in that exact order and Crosstalk’s messenger wasn’t available and it was the last version of WLM from 2012. When running the command, I got an error that said, “This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.” I’m unsure if I did something wrong, but I can live without Live Movie Maker if there’s no other fix. Thank you for your help!
You have to use WLE 2009, using WLE 2012 will also upgrade Messenger.

I completely overlooked that part of the instructions! Unfortunately, I don’t use WLMM 2009 since it lacks some important features that the last version has. I think I will just take this opportunity to learn some new, and much more capable and stable editing software. Thank you very much for your help either way.
