High CPU Usage

Hello,

I’ve noticed that MSN Messenger uses 20% to 30% of my CPU. I’ve noticed that because I can hear my computer fan getting louder as I use MSN Messenger. Is this normal? If not, is there something I can do?

Messenger version: 7.0.0820
Windows version: Windows 10 Home

My instinct is that as the versions progressed, they start to demand more CPU and memory usage due to addition of more fancy features (like Winks, for one), even if slightly. My recommendations for a more lightweight Messenger client that won’t require you to toggle Old MSN Support on (MD5 authentication) is 5.0 or 6.0 as those don’t have any of the more fancy features and I imagine that’d tone down memory usage by a bit.

i have no idea what happened but after closing MSN and reopening it later the CPU usage is now less than 1% when it’s idle

Thanks for the help nonetheless
