I need help. I installed WLM 2012 (Kring) from a forum, but after deleting the files and trying to install Crosstalk 8.5, it tells me that I have a newer version installed. However, when I try to reinstall the version I had previously, it won’t let me do that either.

You just could have uninstalled Windows Live Essentials 2012 instead of just wiping files.
Don’t delete the Program Files outright. That isn’t how you uninstall programs on Windows, doing it that way causes things to break. Still have file associations and registry remains and all that.
You can use Bulk Crap Uninstaller to clean up the remains, if that doesn’t work, reinstall Windows Live Essentials 2012, then uninstall it from Control Panel/Settings.
I used Bulk Crap Uninstaller, as you recommended, but the error stating that I have a more recent version installed—which appears when I try to install Messenger 2009—still persists.
