Escargot DOES work in Vista Betas (Post-Reset)

“Weirdly Blue Start Menu, Beta Winver but ESCARGOT WORKS!?”
Hell Yeah it does! And I’m going to show you how.

You’ll need three/four files:
MSN 7.5 either Already Patched or Needs to be patched (Follow Escargot Switcher Tutorial.)
WindowsRoot.sst
WindowsIntermediate.sst
Optionally, Escargot Patcher.

First things first:
Download your MSN Version of Choice, 7.5 Works the best and I would recommend it. But You can choose any. You can download this from the Escargot for Legacy Website.

Get certificates from GitHub you’ll need the mentioned Root and Intermediate Certs from Releases.

You can open Internet Options from any way you want, But I use IE.
In Internet Options, Go to Content and Click “Certificates”, If you followed me correctly, You Should see this:

Great! Let’s import the certs (Take Notes, @Animadoria)

Click on Import while in the Trusted Tab, Then on this step:

Click Browse.

Change the list to Microsoft Serialized Certificate(s) and Select WindowsRoot.sst

Click Next a few times and finish.
Everytime you get a certificate Warning, Just click ok as well as on the success dialog.

Now do the same with Intermediate Certificates and You’re done with the certificates, Be sure to reboot for safe measure.

Then Install MSN and Login to your escargot account. If all goes well, It should work!

Will it work in early Windows Vista builds before development reset?

I haven’t tried it yet, But I do have 4020 Handy

Short Answer: NO, It says that the Password is Wrong which is another way to say IT DOESN’T HAVE TLS 1.1 and 1.2

Unless you modify the registry to make MSN messenger work using escargot servers on early Windows Vista builds before development reset.
