Every time I call a contact, it says, ‘Messenger is not available right now. Please try again later (0x80ee00c8).’
With the notable exclusion of the last version, Messenger audio needs a direct connection between yourself and your contact to work. How that connection is attempted is different throughout the versions, but for use in current day, your best bet to getting this to work is to set up a VPN or something similar where you and your contact appear on the same network, without any NAT or firewalls.
(Although the above advice used to work, I haven’t tested this in many years and there have been significant server changes since. Also, I am not Escargot.)
