WLM 2009 does have photo sharing features, and it already works with the WIP server with very little modification.

At the same time I unintentionally got photo sharing implemented, I also got proper avatar syncing in place.

Unfortunately, neither webcam or voice chat work as of yet, but this is really looking good.

So it is almost complete, right?
What’s currently next on the list of things to-do for WLM 2009:

Fix a specific bug with contact management, when you add a contact that isn’t already on your contact list to an assigned group.

Get DDP (dynamic display picture), signature sound, and scene syncing implemented.

Get to group/circle implementation.
-
Implement “What’s New”, if even needed.
-
Fix up some other ancillary features WLM 2009 has in store.
Shouldn’t be too much of a task.

Imagine when they wrap the WLM 16

Right now, you have to use the full WLE 2009 installer, which will let you install a working copy of Messenger.
