My M1 MacBook Air (Late 2020), base model (256GB storage, 8GB RAM), got it second-hand for around 500 USD back when I’ve had my 18th birthday.
I’ve had a good experience with macOS on an older ThinkPad and since I got fed up with Windows 11 and didn’t feel like always spending time to tinker with Linux as I do need a system that just needs to work I’ve gone with a Mac.
And so far I am quite pleased at how well this ARM processor runs! Especially the battery life still holding up more than what my older x86 laptops used to last.
One more thing, what I love the most about this laptop are the speakers. (I guess Apple owning Beats might have had some influence there 
) This is the first laptop I’ve owned to have such great sounding speakers, I’ve tested both Apple Music and Spotify on lossless quality audio and it’s amazing.
And yes, I am one of those psychos that actually uses light mode and that’s for 2 reasons:
- I use my devices mostly during the day and it’s much more readable under the sunlight
- All of my devices still use an LCD panel, not an OLED, so battery consumption isn’t a concern for me
