After some thought, I decided to start work on an API frontend that runs on top of HTTP and is extensible. Right now, the only API on the frontend is a JSON API that lists active chats on the IRC frontend and the users in them. I’m planning for more APIs to be developed, both generic and frontend-specific, and possibly advertise them on the site.
