Unfortunately, there hasn’t been a working Android version of Messenger since November when Microsoft started making changes to how Messenger works. Given the other changes in the past few weeks, I don’t think this will be resolved in the near future.
You can of course use the Android version of Skype and sign in with your Microsoft account. Admittedly the Android version of Skype isn’t so great, but at least it works.
