Looking for a Linux distro to install in a VM

So I kind of wanted to try Linux to see if I’m too judgmental on it, but I’m puzzled as to what distro I should use. I’ve heard that Zorin is neat but I’m not sure if I want to use it.

You can start off with Linux Mint (but it’ll be in software render mode because of the VM)

Heh. Install something non-Debian based.

Linux Mint, MX Linux. If you are advanced in Linux then Arch Linux or Gentoo
