I remade Messenger 7.5 on my website

Hi all. I would love to share what I have been working on for such a long time.

My retro-gaming platform has two themes to choose from, retro and modern, and we also have a Chat section. The chat section changes “software” depending on what theme the user is using. If the user is on retro theme, they have an mIRC client that I created on a faux-Windows98 VM. If they use the modern theme, they will see the MSN Messenger that I created on a faux-WindowsXP VM.

I have programmed many of the features that the old MSN had using original assets. The most difficult part of this though was recreating the exact geometry using only Typescript and CSS.

Not-logged-in guests have a kind of limited view of the software.

The nudges even work too. Everybody in the chat receieves them. Oh yeah, I programmed it to be a group chat for everybody to use. The top Display Picture changes to the most recent chatter. Also, the personal message works as it previously did with emoticons and a “currently playing” which shows the game you’re currently playing on PC. Last.fm integration and more is underway.

I don’t pretend that this is amazing or groundbreaking, but I had a lot of fun making it and I wanted to share it with you :slightly_smiling_face:
