use PNG, it’s transparent.
just extract a icon from resource hacker (if you using XP) or customizergod (if you’re using XP on a vm and you mounted the VM’s hard drive to your PC), and convert said icon to png.

use iconsextract https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/iconsext.html save the one you want to as ico in the icons folder, choose your preferred available size of your icon https://redketchup.io/icon-converter then convert it to PNG https://convertico.com/ico-to-png/ and you have a nice transparent icon
