How to stop msn messenger opening in startup?

click on the messenger menu, point to tools then click on options. in options you should see tab at the left side. click on General and at the right side un-check Automatically run messenger when I log on to windows.

Open Messenger, go to Tools > options. In general, clear the Open the main Messenger window box when it starts. If you want to disable it from Windows startup too, just clear the Automatically run Messenger box when you log on to Windows.
