Using Windows Live Messenger 2012, in most cases you'll be able to accept the invitation(s) by clicking on the Invitation link in the contact list window. If you're redirected to a webpage, you can use Butterfly Messenger to accept the add contact invitations and then can use Live Messenger 2012 as normal. Note that the person may still appear offline in the contact list after they accept your request, but will appear correct in the conversation windows. On the next sign in to Messenger, this fixes itself.
