Why not re-create it and make it connect to other servers than MSNP ?
With all the assets we have it could be possible…

Technically, WLM 2009’s main protocol could be developed by using third-party clients for testing, but third-party clients don’t entirely encompass the original source material’s traits.
Also, it’s not like WLM 2009 is unpatchable (yet).
